Tucked away in the sleepy city of Adelaide, is arguably one of the prettiest FD Rx7’s i’ve ever laid my eyes AND ears on.

I first met Cliff Clayson some years ago, during one of his Rx7’s previous eye catching incarnations. He originally purchased the series 6 FD3S way back in 2008, as a rolling shell, but wasn’t happy with building just any street-going Rx7. Cliff is a man that doesn’t live his life by halves, and wanted an aggressive weapon, with the ability to back up its looks. During a 10 year span it evolved through differing looks and power figures, until the end of 2016 when it reached the blue version below.

Fast forward to 2017, fate and flavour came crashing through the door, when Cliff spotted the reveal of the BN Sports BLS FD3S Rx7 at Tokyo Auto Salon. It shook his world and he knew he had to have that kit!

The seed was planted, and after conversations with Michael Ginn from Dori junkie the wheels were in motion for the transformation.

People often say that a car is never finished, but once Cliff saw the finished product, he knew this would be the final transformation.

In his usual style, looks alone weren’t going to cut it, to the workshops it went!

Driving out the other side, with a ball tearing 426kw Semi Peripheral-Port 13B single turbo, backed up by a TTi 6 speed sequential dog box, supplied & Built by REVS Performance Rotary, with all the electrical, computer & tune completed by the wizards at Garage 7.

Even though Cliff had competed on and off since 2005 both here in Australia nationally and in japan in the D1 Divisional East/West series. It was the friends he made in Japan that brought his next achievement to life, landing famed Japanese drifter Takahiro Immamura or “The Drift Samurai” to drive the car in the International Drifting Cup at World Time Attack Challenge 2018
