RACE! is a tuning and modification workshop based in Johannesburg South Africa. They work with some of the world’s most prestigious brands and produce some absolutely stunning results. When I arrived at the showroom and workshop I was blown away with the level of cars they had both on display and in the workshop. Being from Melbourne, I’m used to seeing supercars. In fact, I was bored of supercars. Honestly. I prefer the highly modified JDM and Euro machines imagined up by everyday people, they are unique.

Now, walking into RACE! it was so obvious just how unique these beautiful machines were, bringing a whole new meaning to the word bespoke. I mean these are the sorts of cars you only really see on the internet. Yeah sure there’s an LB Huracan in Brisbane and an LB GT-R in Melbourne BUT how many of you have seen a Ferrari F12 Novitec N-Largo S? Not many I imagine because there’s only 11 of these kits in the world. Talk about exclusivity.

Also noteworthy was a beautiful Renovatio SLR McLaren. This is a full Mansonry makeover including aero, wheels, interior AND performance upgrades. I mean, I have barely seen SLRs in the flesh, a few in Dubai but that’s it. To see something of this calibre in Johannesburg of all places was truly remarkable. Or so I thought. It turns out South Africa is actually car crazy and South Africans have an insane car and supercar culture.

Walking into the showroom I was greeted by a beautiful Aventador SV fitted with an Armytrix exhaust system, it was actually insane to look at. Those four squared-off pipes were so aggressive. There was a gorgeous Aprilia hanging from the ceiling with Nastro Azzurro livery, oh did I mention RACE! do bikes too?

Down in the workshop, an awesome Liberty Walk GT-R was getting the final touches but behind it was a Ferrari getting some Carbon aero, a GT3 RS, a GT2, a 458 and a Mansonry G-Wagon. WHAT. In the showroom they had a Brabus G-Wagon so I wasn’t really expecting to see the Mansonry too.

I love that a place like RACE! exists in Africa,  it brings a whole new level of excitement for documenting the streetcar scene, because street cars here are also supercars.

Special thanks to the team at RACE! and Zack Abba for the opportunity to spend some time in what can only be described as heaven.
