Compello Festival of Cars Show

It has been a quiet year since Covid was introduced to all of our lives. In Victoria, Nearly all events came to a grinding halt, all social gatherings stopped and you could no longer go for a drive to clear your mind. Many people sadly lost their jobs or where put out of work, nothing to look forward too and not much to do during the days. Thankfully after squashing the cases, things opened up, restrictions where eased and events with spectator caps arrived. 2020 was essentially a write off for most. 2021 came and seemed to be in full swing again. The first major car show of the year that I could attend was nothing short of fantastic.

Compello Club held their very first event, Compello Festival of Cars Show. An invitational event displaying a good mix of cars. Classic, Euro, Japanese, Muscle, Stance, Exotic and even Bentley with 2 cars straight off the sales floor. Finally what would a car show be without display stands? Featuring Westside JDM, LMCT+, Talk Tint, Pirelli P Zero World, Elite Euro Performance and Turbo Threads International. For the team at Compello, They really did put on a fantastic show.

It was fantastic to be out and about amongst the local car community again. Catching up with many friends for the first time in a year, meeting new people and finally seeing the builds that had been finished during ISO, seeing new makes and models on display. The atmosphere was vibrant and everyone had a smile on their faces. The car community is finally back and with a vengeance. Not one person could make the day negative. Some seriously impressive cars on the day showed up. Craig showing off his 1993 Bathurst 12 Hour Falken GTR, Bespoke Motorcars showed up fresh from Bathurst with their Aston Martin V12 Vantage GT3, LMCT+ with WARGTR, Phatt Audio Concepts and SAIBOT just to name a few.

Crowd favourite is subjectually hard to choose, as with everything, some people like race cars, some like stanced cars, some like showroom fresh cars and so on. Its always hard to pick for the event, but a few did stand out to me as being incredible in their own ways. V Spec performance had a strong display of rare and drop dead gorgeous Honda’s, Mugen RR civic (1 of 300 worldwide), NA NSX-R, NC NSX as well as the 2020 Nismo GTR. Myself, having come from a Honda, instantly went to the Mugen RR. Not that I would think of seeing a genuine RR would impress me as much as it did, I was surprised that it did. Pure, raw feeling you would get from driving the RR would be something else in a day of electronic assistance.

The second impressive car in its own way, was a Porsche 356 from Outlaw Garage. Steel bodied beauty, black accents and the stance to match, this is one aggressive little coupe. This drew quite a crowd, and I can see why. Every where you look there is cues from other Porsche models, ideas and interesting design elements tied together. This 356 really makes the eyes dance around the car. Thirdly, How could you not love a lowrider? An Impala convertible with Hydraulic powered suspension, wire wheels with white walls, candy paint and pinstripe, chromed underbody you can use as a mirror? Whats not to love.

Who doesn’t love supercars showing off and shooting flames? After installing a Akrapovič exhaust on an Aventador, Elite Euro Performance showed it off, visually! Shooting blue flames, the crowds gathered around the rear of the car, seeing just how large the flames can get. This started a few other small rev battles, M3, Shelby Cobra, X5 M and so on. The crowds got an eye full and an earful of horsepower. It was just fantastic to see the car community back in swing and thank you to the team at Compello for hosting one great event, bringing people together once again.
